I regret NOTHING! I did better on the second test anyway, so I’ll just write a paper for some EC.

Update in bulleted form:

Reading!

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose around the alabaster spire known as the White Tower. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.

Having read #1 – #11 of Wheel of Time from 9/8 – 10/16, I now have my hands on The Gathering Storm. I’m gonna try to savor this one a bit more…

I’m a bit… disturbed by my TX Government prof’s extra credit offering: Attend the Tea Party Express II rally downtown. On the one hand, it is political activity, and an example of how citizens can participate1 – on the other hand, ew. I’m also a tad bemused that he played an entire Fox News segment (which I can’t find right now and it’s driving me crazy) on the arson investigation around Cameron Todd Willingham’s execution; Perry’s dismissal of the whole thing on the grounds that Willingham was a “monster”. Yeah? So? Assuming the evidence shows that he didn’t set the fire, then he didn’t kill his daughters. While he’d never win any humanitarian awards, he’s still not guilty of the specific crime he was executed for. That’s Not Right in my book. </end digression> Anyhow, yeah. Fox News.

Videogames: Finished Fable II. Five times. Well, I had to play good! And evil! And good turned evil. And evil turned good. And good turned evil turned good. And then there’s the sex change potion…. Now I’m playing Lost Odyssey, the game I told Rob repeatedly that I did not want to play. I’m over 80 hours in now. So now he thinks that I’ll change my mind on Oblivion! But, even though I’ve apparently changed my mind on turn-based games *cough*pokemon*cough* I still say I don’t like first person that much. Still, maybe Fallout 3 will convince me, if I decide to try it. In DS news, I beat Professor Layton & the Diabolical Box, but I still need to finish more of the puzzles. Haven’t played much Pokemon (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum) lately, but ToysRUs is giving away Arceus soon, so I’ll dust it off for that. Still waiting for HeartGold/SoulSilver, but I’m not sure which one I’m going to get. On my “finish dammit” to do list is a couple of the GBA pokemons, but I’m not sure which ones I finished and which ones I didn’t. And by “finish” I do not mean “caught ‘em all” because I am just not that obsessed. (Shut up Rob.) Pearl is closest to completion, and I’m happy with that.

My husband threw a glass of ice water at me today! Well, ok, he knocked it over on me while we were at the restaurant. And, ok, maybe it was because I asked him to hand me the very thick and heavy copy of the above mentioned WoT book. Still! Ice! Water! 2

Now you must see an incredibly adorable picture of George, The Sweetest Cat On Earth™!

He was standing on my palm with all four feet, kneading and trying to stand on his head. Aside from leaning against my chest, he was supported solely by my one hand. He was also purring like mad.

1Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I’m taking two classes this term, Digital Imaging I, and Texas State and Local Government. TX Gov is required by the state for any degree, so I’m stuck with it. Texas government is… peculiar. My other class, however, is just plain fun. My major is history, but I’m thinking of also getting a “photographic artist” certificate, whatever that is. The classes for that are some photography fundamentals, digital imaging classes, a class on web design and small business management. Could be useful, and should be fun and interesting.

You know, I don’t think I’ll try to force myself to post every day again. Maybe it’s that I feel obligated to post, which makes me rebel. Or maybe I just don’t have a life. :D

I’m ok with that, really. I happen to like my well upholstered rut.

Anyway. One more duty post after this one, and then it’s back to random sporadic posting. Maybe I’ll manage to post once a week!

Almost into the homestretch for this semester at school. One more test in Government, and I’ve got a paper in American Lit due, and that’s it.

Next term I’m taking three classes; two at the campus near me, and one online. I don’t know if “distance learning” will work for me, but I won’t unless I give it a shot.

I’m taking: Art History II1, Topics in US History – Women’s History2, and Microeconomics. Art History is the online one – we’ll see how it goes.

Well, it’s almost midnight, the stupid dog next door is barking his head off, and I need to get to bed. I better post this before my computer turns into a pumpkin or something!

1 Renaissance to present
2 There were other topics I’d have liked, such as WWII, Depression, Cold War, but this is the only one at “my” campus. I’m not yet ready to find/drive to other campuses.

I woke up (to pee, natch) before the alarm went off, and now I’m actually awake! What’s up with that?

So that American Lit test I thought I blew? Got a 98. Seriously, what is wrong with me?? I still feel like my answers weren’t worth full points – I’m under the theory that the prof was scoring my test late, he wanted to get to bed, and was all “screw it, good enough.”

Or something.

Wow. Mornings. The sky just a few minutes ago was this gorgeous light purple. Normally, I’m against sunrises – the only way they should be greeted is if you haven’t gone to bed yet – but somehow today I’m awake. Weird. I hope it lasts all day!

I went grocery shopping yesterday. What a madhouse! Well, it wasn’t that bad I guess, just super crowded. Luckily, I didn’t need all that much. Although, both of us managed to forget to put rolls on the list – so I’ve got to decide just how much we need dinner rolls or crescent rolls for FoodMas dinner. Truthfully, probably not, really, but there is Tradition to be considered.

Hm. I could stop at Randall’s after school (~ 4pm on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving – what could go wrong?) for their pumpkin cinnamon cookies and some rolls… we’ll see.

I hate Randall’s. Prices are too high, to support their stupid card, and every time I go in there’s only one checkout open – I’m guessing to “encourage” use of the self-checkout machines. Screw that – they are poorly implemented, subject to many errors, and you still need someone hovering over you. Prices there are high enough that they can damn well check my stuff out themselves.

But those pumpkin cookies are goooood.

Apropos of absolutely nothing, I think animated favicons are just wrong.

See what happens when I go against the Nature Of Things?? You get a post like this one.

Well, it’s 7:30 now, so I guess since I am awake (usually I’m trying to drag myself out of bed at this time – and failing) I should take advantage of this bizarre behaviour and get moving.

I’m dreading getting our writing assignment for Am Lit.

That is all.

[EDIT: 9:49pm Found it! Tasha's collar, that is. It was on the bottom shelf of a bookcase in the library. Silly cat. Now I'm going to have some ice cream and watch <lj user="sqlrob"> play Sam & Max. ]

I’ve discovered that I don’t like the pressure of feeling like I have to post every day. I’m going to tough it out though, because I still feel bad about miserably failing the Project 365 photo challenge. At least it’s only one month. Can’t promise any earth-shattering or deeply moving posts though.

So, today.

School. Government is fun, we’re on the Bill of Rights. Talking about the first and fourth, and the class is an uproar. In American Lit we’ve gone from Thoreau and Whitman to the Declaration of Independence, Abigail and John Adam’s letters, and Frederick Douglass – the prof is… a bit odd. Fascinating guy, really, if a bit frustrating.

Once again, there was something else, but it’s slipped away now. Much like this evening has.

Later!

Today is Saturday. We need to go to Costco, Petsmart, and pick up a prescription at the vet, but seriously, I don’t feel like leaving the house. It’s windy and it makes me feel like the best thing to do is snuggle up under a blanket and play video games.

So, a compromise. :D Today I’m gonna do laundry and study for my American Lit test that’s on Monday, and vegetate as much as possible. Tomorrow, Costco, Petsmart, and GameStop to pick up Animal Crossing City Folk. sqlrob had better get in as much Fallout 3 as he can today, because tomorrow I’ll be hogging the console!

Monday, or maybe Tuesday I’ll be able to pick up Pandora’s meds – it’s a refill, and we’re fine until Wednesday.

There was something else I was going to talk about, but I have no idea what it was. Ah well.

Breakfast! I need breakfast. That’s not what I was going to talk about, but it is, nevertheless, true.

Later!
