Hi, my name is Jen, and sometimes I post in this ‘blog thingy.

OK, so it’s been a while. Nothing big has been going on, just day to day living; mostly good, some annoyances, a little bad – you know, life. I can’t even say I’ve been too “busy” to post, ’cause I could have easily done so. It’s just plain laziness.

I’m hoping that I overcome said laziness and make an update soon – but don’t hold your breath. You wouldn’t miss much anyway, just my boring days. But I like them.

BUT! I’m posting now because it’s my birthday (gratuitous pointing out of entirely too long amazon wishlist) and my husband is made of awesome. For weeks he’s been cackling about this cake that he wanted to have made for me and today I finally got to see (and EAT yay!) the results:

Yeah, he’s a geek. And I must be a geek too, ’cause I get it, and I think it’s awesomely awesome.

It’s also chocolate, and yummy. Mmmm… cake.

I’m going to go play some Animal Crossing: City Folk now, because I can.

The in-laws sent us some pictures of sqlrob when he was but a lad. This prompted me to see if my scanner still works. It does, however Mac OSX doesn’t like it. Apparently, HP doesn’t have drivers for my model – guess it’s too old. It works just fine on my Win98 box – haven’t turned that poor thing on in months!

So here’s sqlrob now…

Wow, we’ve just been really busy lately!

The new job at one week in is actually pretty dang cool. The brain is actually being used, and it’s even kinda fun.

Did I mention it’s not tech support?

Monday night we went to a book signing at Bookpeople – Neal Stephenson. He’s such a fascinating person! Next up on my book list, once I get through the current stack, is going to be his Baroque Cycle.

This weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) is Linucon!! We’ve plotted out the panel/seminar thingies we’re going to, and I really can’t wait. It should be a geek heaven!

Guess that’s it for now. It’s raining and incredibly windy right now, so we’re hanging out at work for a bit before we head home. Hopefully we’ll get home fairly soon – got a lot to do before Linucon.
