So the house next to us used to have a family with 4 kids, then they got pregnant again. Well, the house just wasn't big enough for that many (it's smaller than ours) so they sold. I was sad to see them go, because I never heard the kids. We're talking actual parents here – the kids were really nice and well behaved. Anyway, the house sold, and then it was rented. Now the house across the street sold a couple of weeks ago. This morning I just noticed a “For rent” sign in front of it. Crap.

What part of "brain dead" is so hard to understand?
Terri Schiavo's father has joined the president of a nonprofit organization to establish a national holiday to mark the anniversary of her euthanasia death. Robert Schindler and National Urban Policy Action Council president Kevin Fobbs say the goal of the day is to help disabled people and other avoid Terri's fate. The pair said “Terri's Day” is a “celebration of the 'Culture of Life' as well as celebrating the woman who sacrificed her life for this cause.” I think I'll “celebrate” “Terri's Day” by working out my advance directive – so that I can avoid Terri's long drawn out dozen…

Because I just drove back from the vets in full rush hour traffic and my nerves are twanging, here is an interesting interest meme. :) 1. Pick one thing from my interest list you like and tell me why. 2. Pick one thing from my interest list you don

OMG
I just discovered Battlestar Galactica. Hooboy. We just rented the mini-series from netflix. It grabbed me just like Babylon 5 did – and now I'm hooked. We'll be buying the seasons. May put the old one on netflix – I never did see the original.

Cream cheese
I wouldn't recommend freezing it. I didn't freeze it on purpose mind you. It was in the back of the fridge, on top of another container. Guess it was too close to the freezer or something. Anyway, it did not thaw out well – it's all runny, and lumpy, and eew. Tastes ok, but the texture is yuck. Sigh.

And, again. Can we be done with this now?
For the third time, since April 2004, our car got hit. This time, it was very minor, so while I'm annoyed, I'm also grateful. We were in a “go straight or turn left” lane and she was in a “you have to turn left” lane. We turned left and stayed in our lane; she did not. I don't think that she tried to go straight, I think the bump would have been much harder if she had. So, we pulled into a nearby parking lot, checked out the damage and exchanged information. The funny part was, it took us a…

Am I me?
I (heart) my shredder, but I think I'm going to go buy a crosscut shredder soon. I get a heck of a lot of credit card applications in the mail. A bunch for Visa, quite a few from Mastercard and tons of them from American Express. I almost always tear them in half and throw them away. Sometimes, if I am feeling particularly paranoid, I'll tear them into little bitty pieces. Is that good enough? Could a determined and dexterous criminal gather all the bits, tape them together and apply for a card in my name? Would a credit card…

PORT ST. JOHN, Fla. — A 12- and 13-year-old boy were charged with arson after telling sheriff's deputies in Brevard County, Fla., that they set a public library on fire because they were bored, according to Local 6 News partner Florida Today.
